Daddy's flying

Over the years, hubby's travelling has became more frequent and trips lasting longer. This has in some ways, changed me and the children when he is not at home:

1)The kids will sleep early and wake up early
2)I get to rest early too, since the kids are all asleep
3)My confidence in driving has definitely improved. My route is no longer just home-office-home. Ocassionally, I will over-rate myself and cause damage to his precious car. I just scratched one of the sport rim a month ago.
4)Have learned to be independent and take care both the household and kids. I must be doing quite well in this area, as calls from hubby to check if I had murdered his kids has dropped from at least twice per day to one/two call per trip.
5)The kids will no longer ask why daddy is not there when they do not see him picking them up from school or he is missing in the morning. Instead, now they will ask: "Where has papa go?" or "When papa coming back?"

However, there are things that are unchanged no matter how used to we are to his travelling:

1)The kids miss him terribily and count down to the day that he will be back
2)The emptiness I felt
3)I stop breathing when I hear news on plane accident or riot/bomb explosion
4)I'm still lousy at right side parking
5)I still stick my head out of the window when I reverse the car

It does look and sound glamorous when your job require travelling, but when you have family, that's another story.

  • Exactly... though my hubby dont require to travel but when he doesnt help up at home, is equivalent to he's not around... again I cannot denine is still better than the dad require to travel... anyway... I can understand what you are going thru... hard on you...

But when the daddy is back, the family will extra cherish the moment together :)

  • Mommys really have to double up as several roles most times.

It's good that u are so independent...and tho i do hate the emptiness when Hubby gotta travel due to work, it's also good to know that the kids can rest early :)
