Bye bye giraffe milk!

Eu no longer asks for his milk bottle when he goes to bed at night. No request for milk whenever he wakes up from his sleep too. He had been very dependent on sucking his milk bottle to get himself to sleep and we never succeed in weaning him off this bad habit. So how did it happen?

His milk powder supply at home was running low, and I couldn’t find time to go to the store. Daddy was away and couldn’t help. Remembering the petrol kiosk near our place does sell the brand which Eu drinks, I decided to drop by to get a tin on my way home. Most probably is God’s will, on the day I was there, the kiosk was selling a different brand of milk powder. As Eu was with me, I showed him the shelves and said: “Look no more giraffe milk, only sell this brand.” I bought that tin of milk, though Eu was protesting, thinking he will still drink since he rely so much on his milk bottle. To my surprise, he rejected his bottle that night. He did ask me to make his giraffe milk, but I replied: “No more selling giraffe milk. Remember?” He did not throw any tantrum upon hearing this, just disappointment. That night passed without much problem. Second night, not much fussing too. One week, two weeks, and now, after a month, I can officially declared, Eu no longer needs his milk bottle. Hooray!

  • So he doesn't drink any milk now? I don't really mind Gavin using the bottle. I have considered switching to the cup but I think it will turn him off. Well, let's see. Maybe next year, something like that will happen to him too...no more Giraffe...

  • He is off milk at home, as the only milk product he is willing to drink from a cup is milk shake. But he will still get to drink his giraffe milk in school. :P
