For the record

Yes, yes, I know father's day was more than a month ago, but I was real tied up with things and couldn't find time to blog on this. I keep telling myself I need to post this, to be fair, since I had something for mother's day. So this is it, long over due. Tien did a beautiful coaster for father's day gift. I had wanted to take a pic of it, but was too busy and thought I could do it later. By the time I'm ready with the camera, my mom had already dump it into the rubbish bin. Oh boy! Make do with the making process pictures instead lah!

For better?

Yesterday morning, after sending Tien to her class, I brought Eu to his, and saw the principal standing at the classroom door. I knew she had something she wanted to talk about, as she called to me as soon as she spotted me walking towards her direction. Nothing to be happy or excited about. In fact I was pretty upset, till now, after that conversation.

(1)Eu had caused some bad scratch marks on a boy's jaw after last Friday's phonics class. Nobody saw what or how it actually happened. The boy could not relate what happen too. I believed the teacher thought nothing of it at that time, as I was not informed of the incident at all, until yesterday. The parents must had complained about it on Monday, and me being told then. I am sorry for what my boy did, but why and how Eu managed to hurt another kid in a split second (the principal said it happened very fast, her words split second)? What was the teacher doing at that point? Shouldn't the school bear some responsibilities too, and not push all to a 4 years old kid? She even suggested I have a look at the boy's face? Then what? Compensate him with money?!

(2)To retain Eu in K1 for next year, reason being him having social difficulties with the older children and could not concentrate in class. The principal feels that he will behave better with children born in the same year as him. I just couldn't understand what make her so sure about that? What will the school do if he is still having problem then? Although the school agreed Eu has shown improvement in his speech and writing skill, he is still not ready for K2. But all specialists that had accessed him, felt totally that he could stay on the mainstream. What he needs is lots of guidance and encouragement. That lead me to think about his teachers. Could it be the teachers attitude or teaching method? He was fine in all previous years, but I do recall him being temperamental during the period when one of his current teacher was the class teacher then. Will discuss with the clinic about the school decision and see what they suggest.

With the disappointment in the school, I am more ready to switch him to another more accommodating environment if necessary. Like what hunnybunz mommy had written in one of her post, I hope my children will understand what we had went through for them. Just for them.

Robinson Fall in Cameron

The leisure continues....

My little cute shopping queen!

We went to BOH tea plantation on our last day in Cameron. The road down to the valley was very narrow, allowing only one vehicle to drive along. We kept our fingers crossed through out the journey, not wanting to meet any tour bus, else the one that most likely had to give way would be us and that would meant a long and difficult distance to reverse our car to don't know where! The whole valley area was very scenic, with tudor cottages dotting the hill tops. The plantation was huge, with a small settlement and a school for the plantation workers and their children. The BOH tea company had also set up a nice visitors center there, which had a shopping store and cafe in it. The center gives history on the company and provides educational tour on tea making process. Definitely a place worth visiting!

Magnificent views of the plantation.

Climbing up the slope to the visitors center. There is actually a proper walking path which we were unaware until we reached the top. What a blunder!

Pics taken outside the visitors center and in the cafe.

The tea plantation settlement in the valley.

We arrived back in KL at late afternoon, but couldn't locate our hotel. We went in circles, paid the toll twice, and landed into the underground road leading to KLCC. In frustration, hubby declared we shall take a break at the mall. After filling up our tummies, we were back to hotel hunt after getting help from the information counter at the mall. Still unable to see our hotel, we seek help again at a petrol kiosk. The amused worker pointed to the opposite side of the kiosk. Haha! It's just across the road.

This time round, they were glued to the TV set once checked in.

Ice-cream again! Eu was rewarded with double scoop for good behaviour. Spent the whole morning and afternoon at The Curve. Daddy lost the kids in Tesco. Don't ask me what happened. We were lucky the store was not crowded at that time, and the kids actually stayed put at the lane where daddy left them. Of course my face was as black as charcoal and as white as milk from anger and fright.

Kiddy ride with Humphrey bear before we headed home!

A leisure family trip

We had a driving trip up to Malaysia before the school term starts. Decided on Cameron Highlands. Since Tien is not travel friendly, we stopped by at KL for one night, so that the travelling in the car will not be too much for her to bear. Same thing when we came back down, but stayed for 2 nights instead. It was a nice, relaxing trip for everyone. I had supper with hubby every night at our hotel room. Haha! Something which I definitely won't have time or mood for when I'm in Singapore.

Yeah! All ready to go!

It was raining cats and dogs when we reached KL. As usual heavy traffic jam.

This was what the kids and daddy were doing as soon as we got into our hotel room.

Went over to Mid Valley Megamall, after a short rest, for dinner and shopping. We ate at the Chicken Rice Shop.

Stayed at Century Pines during our visit to Cameron. The room was clean, big and had beautiful view from the balcony. There's a DVD player in the room which kept the kids entertained at night. Breakfast provided by the hotel was pretty decent, which surprised me, as the occupancy level wasn't high. Very glad that I did not switch over to Equatorial (they were having an attractive promotion), after driving pass and saw it wasn't as attractive as shown in its website.

Daddy having fun with the kids after lunch, along the streets in Tanah Rata town.

The playground park was just opposite our place of stay. Big open space with three playgrounds. We left the place only when it started to drizzle.

Had super yummy strawberry ice-cream at KHM strawberry farm, after walking the Robinson Fall trail. The pics on the trekking will need to wait, cos' it's all taken using hubby's film camera and has yet to be developed into hardcopy photos.

Daddy doing marketing! Forget about the strawberries, though almost everyone will link Cameron with that, you should try out the sugary sweet corns. They are edible in raw form and sugary SWEET!

Lunch at the famous T-cafe. We ordered spagetti with minced chicken in tomato sauce for Eu, daddy had lasagna and mushroom soup, while mommy chosed yee-mee in claypot. We had chocolate and banana milk shakes too! The food was good, but I wouldn't recommend to anyone that does not like to wait more than half an hour for their food. Luckily, Tien was fast asleep when we reached the cafe, else we would had to walk out with empty stomach. And from observation, I do agree with comments on the internet about the owners giving better service to ang-moh tourists. There was this caucasian couple who came more than 15 minutes later than us, but got her claypot dish at the same time as me! No, she definitely did not call to order in advance, as I saw the boss attending to them almost immediately after they had sat down. We waited almost 10 minutes before the lady boss had the time to take our orders.
